NEET Registration 2023: Fees and Steps to Apply

Candidates will have to complete NEET 2023 registration on the specified date. The start and last date to fill NEET application form 2023 will be released along with the official notification.

NTA will tentatively start NEET 2023 registration in December 2022.

Candidates should note that the examination body will not accept any other NEET registration 2023 method except the online mode. Candidates must go through the NEET eligibility criteria before filling out the application form.

NEET Application Form 2023: Phase 1 and 2

  • Last year, NTA made a change in the process of dividing the NEET application into two stages.

  • This year, too, the NEET application form consists of two phases.

  • Candidates must fill out the first set of information before the NEET 2023 registration date and the second set before the declaration of result/downloading of scorecards.

        1. Looking at the two phases of the NEET application form, applicants should be aware that:
        2. The first phase of the NEET application form 2023 consists of registration, filling out the application form, uploading required documents and scanned images, payment of the application fee, and take a printout of the confirmation page.
        3. The second phase of the NEET application form 2023 includes additional information related to the first phase, such as parents’ income details, residential address, and educational details. The NEET Phase 2 registration date will be announced later.

How To Fill-out NTA NEET Registration Form 2023?

Candidates can follow the below-mentioned steps for the NEET application form:

  • Visit the NTA NEET website.

  • On the bottom section of the homepage, click on NEET (UG) 2023 application.

  • Log in with the NEET 2023 Phase 1 credentials on the new page.

  • Agree to the terms and conditions on the NEET Phase 2 registration portal page.

  • Fill in the required details in the NEET 2023 registration Phase 2 form.

  • Review and verify the details before clicking on the ‘Submit’ button.


NEET 2023 Eligibility Criteria

  • AGE LIMIT

  • A student must have completed 17 years at the time of admission under NEET eligibility or complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of their admission to the 1st year MBBS/BDS Course.


  • At present, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has removed the upper age limit for all candidates willing to appear for the UG NEET exams. Earlier, the upper age limit for general candidates was 25 years.


  • The upper age limit for candidates belonging to reserved and PwD categories was 30 years. Note that candidates must upload proof of their date of birth while filling up the NEET Application Form.


  • EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

  • The candidate must have passed Class 12 Board exams from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology, and English as compulsory subjects.

  • The candidate must have passed these subjects mentioned above individually and must have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology / Biotechnology, in the qualifying examination.

  • For candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes, the aggregate marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology / Biotechnology, in qualifying examinations must be 40% instead of 50% for General candidates. For PwD candidates, the minimum qualifying mark is 45%.
    Those who are appearing in the Class 12 examination in 2023 can also appear for the entrance test provisionally subject to their fulfilling the conditions in the NEET notification later.

  • NIOS students and students with Biology as an additional subject can also appear for NEET 2023.


  • NEET 2023 – 15% All India Quota  

  • Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and Foreign Nationals are eligible for the 15% of All India Quota seats.

  • How To Fill Up NEET Application Form 2023?

Candidates must ensure they fulfil all the eligibility criteria mentioned before filling up the NEET online form 2023. Steps to fill up the registration form are

  4. Candidates will also have to set their passwords as per the guidelines provided.

  • The next step for registration of NEET 2023 would be:

  • Choose Password – The next step would be to choose a password.

  • OTP Verification – Click on the OTP verification to verify.

  • Generation of Provisional Application Number of NEET 2023 – A provisional application number will display on the screen. Note down the application number as it is the NEET login ID 2023 for all future logins.


  • Uploading of Documents and Scanned Images

Requirements for Photograph

  • The photograph should be recent. It must not be older than 3 months and must clearly indicate the candidate’s name and the photograph’s date.

  • It should be a passport-size photo with a white background.

  • Candidates should not wear any accessories. They should ensure that their faces are clearly visible.

  • Dimension of a passport size photo = 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5 cm (height).

  • Scan it at 200 dpi in a scanner.

  • Save it as a jpeg format with a size between 10 kb to 200 kb.


Requirements of Signature

  • Make a rectangle of 3.5 cm (width) and 1.5 cm (height) and sign inside the box.

  • Scan it at 200 DPI in a scanner and crop the image.

  • Save it as jpg/jpeg with a size between 4 kb to 30 kb

NTA NEET Registration Process – Phase 2

  • Once the candidates have successfully filled the Phase 1 NEET application form, as mentioned above, the candidate has to fill out the second phase of the NEET 2023 application. 

  • The NTA NEET registration process or Phase 2 will start after the NEET exam is conducted and before announcing the NEET result. 

  • Candidates who have appeared for the NEET exam are eligible for the NEET 2023 second phase registration process. 

  • There is a specified time to fill the forms, beyond which authorities will cancel the candidature. Candidates can check the NTA NEET registration process for the second phase.

  • Go to the official website of NEET.

  • Fill in the login credentials- NEET application number, password and security captcha.

  • Log in with the One Time Password (OTP) sent on the registered mobile number.

  • Submit and click on ‘Verify and Proceed for Correction’

  • Review the details to add/edit the information filled in the NEET Phase 1 registration

  • NTA NEET Registration 2023: Important Points to Note

  • NEET application form 2023 will have to be submitted only online mode ONLY.

  • The authority will not consider the NEET online form of candidates submitting false and fabricated information. Further, NTA will debar such candidates from appearing in examinations. Incomplete NEET application forms and applications not as per the NEET notification will not be considered and are liable to be rejected.

  • The NEET application form fee will not be carried forward to a future examination nor refunded under any circumstances. Submission of the online NEET application form and remittance of the application fee would close as per the schedule given, and no request for a time extension shall be entertained. NEET application form, once submitted, cannot be withdrawn.

  • NTA reserves the right to withdraw permission if any, granted inadvertently to any candidate who is not eligible to appear in the NEET (UG) even though he has filled the NEET application form and the board issued the Roll Number, Admit Card.


NTA NEET Registration 2023: Application Correction Window

  • Candidates who will apply for NEET will get a chance to make any corrections in the application form if needed. 

  • The NEET application correction window will be open for a specified period, and candidates can use this time to correct any incorrect information.

  • Candidates can make corrections in the following fields:

  • The spelling of the names

  • Photograph uploaded

  • Medium of instruction

  • Preference of examination test city

  • Educational qualification details

  • Date of birth

  • Other personal details etc.


  • Steps To Correct NEET Application Using Correction Window

  • Visit the official website of NTA NEET 2023.

  • Click on the ‘NEET correction window

  • A new page opens. Enter your ‘application number’ and ‘password’ and click ‘login’.

  • The NEET correction window will open. Now, click on the button that says ‘Click Here for corrections in NEET 2023 application’.

  • Make the necessary changes as per the requirement and click ‘preview and submit’.

  • An OTP will be sent to your registered Email ID and mobile number. Verify the received OTP.

  • Take the printout of the correction slip from the button provided on the screen.

NEET admit card

  • NTA will release the NEET admit card online. 

  • NEET 2023 hall tickets will be available for candidates to download using their login credentials.

  • Candidates must download admit card for NEET 2023 and carry it to the test centre with relevant documents. 

  • The admit card of NEET 2023 is available only for successfully registered candidates. 

  •  The admit card/hall ticket mentions personal, exam date and time, test centre address, photograph, signature, and other details.

  • Candidates need to paste a photograph on the admit card and one also needs to be carried along with the admit card.


NEET Exam Pattern 2023

As per the official NEET exam pattern of 2023, there are 200 questions in the question paper, out of which, aspirants are required to answer 180 questions.

Candidates can check the NEET marking scheme of NEET paper below:

  • 4 marks will be added to the overall score for each correct answer.

  • One mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

  • If a question is left unanswered, no marks will be deducted or awarded as per NEET pattern 2023.

  • No changes or modifications are allowed in the NEET OMR sheet.

  • Suppose any question is found to be incorrect, or any particular question is dropped; in that case, 4 marks will be awarded to all the candidates irrespective of the fact whether the question has been attempted or not by a candidate.

Some important points with respect to the choice of language in the NEET exam

  • Candidates can opt for a question paper in either English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, or Punjabi.

  • The option of the medium of question paper will be exercised during the form-filling process.

  • The option, once exercised, cannot be changed later by the candidate.

  • Candidates who opted for English will be given the English test booklet only.

  • Those who opted for Hindi will be provided with the Bilingual Test Booklet, i.e., Hindi and English.

  • Candidates who opted for vernacular languages will be provided with the Bilingual Test Booklet, i.e., in the selected language and English.

  • In case of any ambiguity in the translation of any of the questions, its English version will be treated as final.

Instructions for Filling NEET 2023 OMR Sheet

NEET aspirants must know the instructions regarding filling out the NEET 2022 OMR sheet for the exam.

Some of the guidelines on how to fill a NEET OMR sheet appropriately:

  • As per the guidelines issued by NTA, all the answers in the NEET exam must be marked using a ball-point pen.

  • The ballpoint pen will be provided by the authorities inside the exam hall.

  • All the candidates must mark the code of test booklet code on the NEET OMR sheet 2023

  • As per the NEET 2023 exam pattern, the answers once marked in the OMR sheet cannot be erased.

  • It is essential to fill the entire bubble in order for it to be considered a valid response. Otherwise, the machine will not be able to grade the response sheet and it will be considered as an invalid response.

NEET 2023 Answer Key

  • The NTA will first release the provisional answer key and then the final answer will be released set-wise.

  • Candidates can also challenge the answer key if they are not satisfied with the answer.

  • The NEET Answer key will be released in the 3rd week of May 2023 through online mode.

  • For each challenged question, candidates will be required to pay Rs 1000 as a processing fee. 

  • The fee can be paid by the candidates through online mode. Candidates will get a refund of this fee if the challenge made by the candidate will be found true.

NEET Result 2023

  • The NEET result 2023 will be announced through online mode in 1st week of June 2023. 

  • To get NEET Results candidates will be required to enter their login details like- roll number and date of birth.

  • The result will be prepared according to the revised answer key released by the authority. 

  • The authority will not prepare the result category-wise. 

  • Candidates can take the printout of their results after the declaration of it. 

  • The NEET result will be considered by most of the medical colleges across the country for admission into UG programmes.

 

What is the OMR challenge in NEET?   

  • NTA provides a provision for all candidates to challenge NEET OMR.

  • Aspirants can use NEET challenge OMR sheet by NTA in case the answer marked is not displayed or incorrect. 

  • NEET OMR sheet challenge can be done within the specified date and time at neet.nta.nic.in. To raise objection on NEET answer sheet, students need to pay Rs. 200 per question

How to challenge it?

Step 1: Click on the official link provided on the page.

Step 2: Enter the NEET application number and password to log in

Step 3: Click on the ‘OMR challenge’ option available on the page

Step 4: Choose the option ‘Click here for OMR challenge’ to challenge the options marked

Step 5: Then, the number of questions and answers marked by aspirants will be displayed on the screen

Step 6: Click on the boxes before the question you wish to challenge and provide the alternative to the given option through the dropdown options

 Step 7: In a similar fashion, candidates will be able to challenge other questions provided in the OMR sheet of NEET. After selecting alternate ‘candidate claim’ from the drop-down option, click on the ‘submit’ tab provided below on the page.

After clicking on the ‘submit’ tab, a message on the screen will appear stating’ “Ensure all the challengeable questions have been selected. No further chance will be allowed after final submission.” The candidates will be redirected to pay the processing fee after clicking on submit.

  • There will be the provision of seat reservations for reserved category candidates. The seat will be reserved in all government-sponsored institutions, private colleges, and deemed universities.

NEET Cut Off 2023

  • The NEET cut off will be announced for various categories including general, OBC, SC, and ST. 

  • The expected cut off for NEET 2023 exam will be at least around 640-650 marks to be on the safer side.

  • The cut-off will be released along with the declaration of result. It will be prepared on the basis of various factors such as marks scored, difficulty level of exam, rank, availability of seats etc. Admissions will be given to candidates as per the scored rank.

If the authority decides to lower the cut-off, candidates scoring below the cut-off need to wait for NTA’s final declaration. If the cut-off is not lowered, the candidates not qualifying for counselling may attempt the exam another year.


NEET 2023 Counselling

  • The counselling will commence in the 2nd week of June 2023. 

  • The NEET 2023 counselling will be conducted by the Directorate General Health Services, Government of India. 

  • The counselling will be held in 2 rounds. Other rounds may also be organized depending upon the availability of seats.

  • The selected candidates will be invited to the counselling process according to their merit. 

  • The process of NEET Counselling for 15% All India Quota will be managed by the MCC of Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS) by online mode whereas the counselling for 85% state quota seats will be held by the counselling committee of the state.
